took cat for a quick walk today -- pleasantly uneventful, met some nice strangers.
learned a little about cat's ability to prioritize. when I set her down on the sidewalk, there happened to be a coupla pigeons goofing off on the other side of the street. cat (on a leash!) started to stalk the pigeons, getting into that trance-like state of mind.
but then someone started a car, and cat woke up out of trance. then a french bulldog on a leash appeared, and cat retreated.
(prioritization like this seems like a pretty sophisticated brain function. I wonder if there's a chemical or region in cat's brain that manages this prioritization. is this typical of all hunters?)
